If you’re living in or visiting Baguio during the cold season, you know the weather calls for thoughtful layering that keeps you warm without feeling bulky. Pulling off a chic layered outfit here means balancing function and style – light enough for the sunny afternoons but cozy enough for the cool breeze.

Here’s how I put together a look that worked perfectly for strolling around Burnham Lake and taking photos at the football field – a practical yet stylish outfit that reflects both the city’s climate and my personal taste.

  1. A Simple, Slim-Fit Base Layer
The foundation of the look was a black V-neck top – something I always gravitate toward. I prefer V-necks because they’re flattering without being too open, and they make a great base for layering without adding bulk. Since Baguio doesn’t get too cold, a light, fitted top works well for both morning chill and midday sun.

    2. A Skirt with Movement

Instead of jeans or pants, I chose a skirt that hit just above the knee – a length I personally love for its balance of comfort and ease. It gives a softer, more feminine shape and allows for movement, whether I’m walking around the lake or sitting at the field.

Living in Baguio, I learned that you can dress light but still layer smart – and this skirt was proof of that. To stay warm, I added black stockings, which I wear often because they add polish while still being practical for the city’s climate.

    3. Layering with a Structured Coat

Over the top, I threw on a structured coat – one of my go-to outer layers. Since the weather in Baguio can shift from breezy to sunny in a single afternoon, I’ve found that a coat with shape (but not too heavy) is the best choice. It keeps you warm in the shade, but isn’t too much when you’re in the sun.

This kind of coat also elevates an otherwise casual outfit – something I’ve come to appreciate living in a place where the weather gives you an excuse to dress up a little more every day.

    4. Stockings + Boots = Go-To Combo

To finish the core look, I wore black stockings and long boots – a pairing I return to again and again. It’s reliable, comfortable for walking, and weather-appropriate for most of the year in Baguio. The boots keep your legs warm and dry, especially when the fog rolls in or the ground’s a bit damp.

I don’t always go for flashy pieces, but I like clean lines, practicality, and balance – and this combo always works with that.

    5. A Hat to Add a Personal Touch

Lastly, I added a hat, which for me is more than just a styling piece – it’s a personal detail. I like outfits that feel finished, and something about a hat adds that final layer without feeling forced. It’s also useful in Baguio, where the sun can be gentle but still bright.

Living in Baguio means dressing for the everyday rhythm – the cool air, the gentle sun, and the places that become part of your life. This outfit wasn’t just about looking good for a moment; it was about feeling comfortable and confident throughout the day, whether I was walking by Burnham Lake or pausing at the football field.

The beauty of this look is its ease – the layers are practical and adaptable, and each piece fits naturally into Baguio’s laid-back atmosphere. And while dressing up isn’t mandatory, taking the time to elevate your style every now and then can make an ordinary day feel a little more special, giving you a subtle boost that carries you through whatever the day brings.
