As my feet touch the ground, I sniffed the air as if to imbibe the positive energy that this Land of Smiles radiates. I scanned my surroundings to see familiar faces but  was overwhelmed with the throng of people moving to opposite directions. Dragging my suitcase with my right hand, I queued up at the nearest line then waited for my turn to pass through the customs and immigration. I’m still caught up with the recent turn of events that I haven’t noticed the empty space in front of me. It’s not until I heard someone clearing his throat that I finally opened my eyes. After gaining my composure, I walked straight to the immigration officer who was beaming at me.

A week after my arrival at Suvarnabhumi, I moved to Bangkok where I had my first coffee shop visit at Baan  Suan Sathorn (บ้านสวนสาทร). The tumultuous emotions drowning me to death instigated me to visit the place. I wasted no time in searching the area after my landlord suggested the option. I felt like just a little delay and I might explode if I will not go anywhere calm and serene. Upon reaching the cafe, I was stunned to see its mesmerizing beauty. The mood at the entrance quelled my doubts and worries. The sound of the gushing water accompanied with the soft and soothing acoustic music just elevated the relaxing atmosphere of the entire cafe. Once inside, I was even more amazed to see the interior. It dawned on me that the view at the entrance was just an icing on the cake. Right in front of me is a paradise!

The artificial mist shrouding the place creates a magical scene that is almost close to perfection. I felt like I was under a spell while familiarizing myself with the surrounding. I couldn’t get over the feeling rising within me as I badly wanted to jump with joy. Maybe, it was the smoky mountain vibe of Baan Suan Sathorn that made me dance with such euphoria.

The sight of the koi fish swarming the pond adds to the overall aesthetic of the place. As the mist obscuring the water lifts, the golden view of this aquatic animals complements the vibrance of the lush environment.

As for my food, I was tempted to order for a caffeinated drink but chose to get a tropical fruit shake instead. I was expecting to have a glass in front of me but this place never fail to amaze me. They’ve given me this whole coconut with my ordered smoothie inside.

I also ordered blue berry cheesecake and I must say that it was the most sumptuous cake that I’ve ever tasted.

Overall, this place is the perfect antidote for anyone living within Bangkok who wants to take a break from the chaos of the city. Its quaint countryside vibe is just what anyone needs in these trying times.
