Everyone travels a little differently, and over the years, I’ve realized that the best trips-my favorite kind-aren’t the ones with crammed itineraries. They’re the ones where I feel fully present. Where I follow what feels good, instead of what I’m “supposed” to do. I like to move slowly, take in the details, and let moments sink in. Travel, for me, is about choosing connection over checklists-and when I lean into that, every trip feels more personal, more memorable, more mine.

I Start Early

While most people treat vacation as a reason to sleep in (and no judgment there!), I love waking up with the sun. There’s something about early mornings in a new place that just feels… magical. The streets are quieter, the light is softer, and everything feels a bit more open-like the day hasn’t made any promises yet. It’s the perfect time to wander, think, breathe, and just be in the moment before the crowds show up. Some of my favorite travel memories happened when the city was still stretching and waking up.

Coffee First, Always

No matter where I am in the world, my day doesn’t really start until I’ve had my coffee. It’s my little ritual-something familiar, even when everything else is new. Whether I find a hidden café down a quiet street or grab a cup from a vendor on the go, that first sip always grounds me. It slows me down just enough to notice things. Sometimes, looking for coffee leads me to a beautiful spot I never would’ve found otherwise. It’s simple, but it’s such a big part of how I settle into a place.

My OOTD, My Vibe

Just because I’m traveling doesn’t mean I leave my style behind. In fact, planning my OOTD is one of the ways I connect with the experience. I don’t dress up for anyone else. Its for me. What I wear affects how I feel, and when I feel good, I move through the day with more confidence and curiosity. A flowy dress in a tropical spot, a layered look for cool mountain air-each outfit kind of sets the tone for the day. It’s like a little mood board I get to live in.

Capturing the Journey

I take a lot of pictures when I travel-but not just the big, postcard moments. What I really love capturing are the small things: how the light hits a wall, the texture of a street, a quiet smile from a stranger. Those little details help me remember how a place felt. Photography has become a kind of storytelling for me, not just a way to remember where I went, but to hold onto why it mattered. Looking back at those snapshots always brings me right back to the moment.

If you ever feel like you have to travel a certain way-fast-paced, busy, always doing the next thing-just know you don’t. There’s no right or wrong way to explore. Maybe you love early mornings and slow coffees. Maybe you find joy in planning your outfit or taking way too many photos of puddles and shadows (same). Lean into whatever makes you feel connected. Travel isn’t just about where you go-i’s about how you feel while you’re there. And that part? That’s entirely up to you.

PS: A New Chapter
Now that I’m married, travel’s starting to shift a bit. It’s not just about me anymore-it’s about us. The rituals I’ve always loved-early starts, coffee runs, quiet photo walks-feel different when you’re sharing them with someone else. It’s still me, just with a new rhythm. A new kind of joy. I’ll be sharing more about that in my next post. Stay tuned.
